History of International Yoga Day

When was started International Yoga Day?  Who proposed to celebrate International Yoga Day firstly??

The idea to celebrate International Yoga Day firstly proposed by Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi during his speech at UNGA on 27th September, 2014. 

Why celebrate International Yoga Day?

Mr. Modi, PM of India spoke that “the Yoga is priceless contribution from the Indian ancient tradition.  Yoga is unity of mind and body, though and action, restraint and fulfillment, harmony between human and nature, it is a holistic move toward to health and well being.  By varying our lifestyle and creating awareness, it can help in well being.  Let us work towards adopting an International Yoga Day” in Un General Assembly.

The initial proposal from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the UNGA taken up the unofficial consultations on the draft resolution entitled “International Yoga Day” on 14th October, 2014 and the consultations were convened by the delegation of India.  Then the UNISCO officially announced on 11th December 2014 to celebrate International Yoga Day on every 21st of June month.

The first International Day of Yoga was celebrated on 21st June, 2015 worldwide and in India the Ministry of AYUSH arranging for these celebrations in India to create awareness about Yoga and promote the greatest property of Indian ancient.  So, this is the history of celebration of International Yoga Day.

 

Now see the highlights of International Yoga Day 2017

The 2017 year International Day of Yoga celebrated grandly world wide in 180 countries with celebrities of respective countries and created awareness about importance of Yoga in human life.

In India, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi actively involved in International Yoga Day in Delhi in a pleasure atmosphere.  Mr. Modi participated at B.R. Ambedkar Stadium in Lucknow of Uttar Pradesh State, he participated for 20 minutes even though rain happened he didn’t stopped doing Yoga and made co participants to participate actively.
